yesterday morning we went to see Dr. Fell to see what she advises for Helen to do. She gave her some Nexium samples. It seems Nexium is prescribed for acid indigestion. Hopefully it helps?
I spoke with Dr. Jill Scott about Helen and she aid to do the apple cider vinegar 20 minutes before eating and to follow the 3-week detox diet. The pancreas has a difiicult time digesting protein. No dairy, no wheat products and definately no sugar. She has an apt to see her Tuesday - Feb 5th @ 11:30am.

Pancreatitis!!!!
Helen went to Eagle Ridge with extreme pain and nausea. She waited in the waiting room on a bed, throwing up, screaming and writhing in pain for almost 4 hrs! The doctors and other staff in the triage were telling jokes and eating Tim Hortons! She finally got into ER and they treated her like she was a piece of shit! didn't help her, or believe her that she was in pain or nauseated!... She was puking so much and so often (just bile) that they were pissed off at her for using so many of the cardboard disposable containers! She was eventually diagnosed with pancreatitis by the blood work they did there. I don't know what the amylase levels were. Anyways she got a room @ 11:00pm and the night nurse was a nightmare! She didn't sleep well, the morphine and metoclopramide wasn't even helping and the nurses aren't allowed to change the meds until they get the OK from a doctor. The doctor/hospitalist didn't show up until around 11:30am! By this time Helen was extremely agitated and exhausted. Unfortunately she discharged herself out of the hospital before she could get any help!!! = =

Peace Arch Hospital today
Helen had her Colonoscopy and Gastroscopy today. Dr. Donaldson said he saw nothing that was abnormal. So this is really good.
He did biopsies and the results will be a few weeks.
Helen was extremely ill from the tests, VERY nauseated! On the way home from the hospital I took pictures of this rainbow! there was 2 side by side, very beautiful!
"Somewhere Over the Rainbow"
Somewhere over the rainbow
Way up high,
There's a land that I heard of
Once in a lullaby.
Somewhere over the rainbow
Skies are blue,
And the dreams that you dare to dream
Really do come true.
Someday I'll wish upon a star
And wake up where the clouds are far
Behind me.
Where troubles melt like lemon drops
Away above the chimney tops
That's where you'll find me.
Somewhere over the rainbow
Bluebirds fly.
Birds fly over the rainbow.
Why then, oh why can't I?
If happy little bluebirds fly
Beyond the rainbow
Why, oh why can't I?
from THE WIZARD OF OZ

Lets hope there is a pot of good luck and health there for Helen also! gold would be nice too :0)

Oct. 12 - Friday night
Helen isn't feeling too bad, but she had 1 alcoholic drink and vomited a couple of hours later. Dr. Rogal told me that projectile vomiting isn't a good sign and to definately follow up with the complaint to the College of Physicians & Surgeons about Dr. Sedergreen.

Oct. 9th - Tuesday
Helen has felt sort of OK the last few days and has even been able to eat somewhat. She ate well at Grama's on Sunday Thanksgiving. And she ate another Thanksgiving dinner at Chris's mom's house last night. Nothing out of the ordinary, nothing different. But she woke up @ 3:00am with projectile vomiting!

Oct. 6 - Saturday night
Helen called me in the evening to let me know that her day wasn't good! ... she has had a fairly good week and has even been going to school. She was looking forward to and enjoyed the turkey dinner served at C.A.B.E. for lunch. But she threw up this morning after only having broth because she was hungry but feeling nauseated.

talked to Helen in am, and she is still feeling somewhat ok! she's still taking the Biaxin for the bronchitis.
Sept 28th! Jord & Chantal are expecting!
just after we made our apt at Eagle Ridge for Helen's ultrasound, we went to the Frogstone Grill and Jord called me there to announce that they are expecting! Chantal is 2 weeks pregnant!
Helen was able to eat some shrimp caesar salad and apple juice!!
She went home and rested and then Helen, Nik, Chris and I went to Red Robins for dinner. Helen ate about a 1/4 of a hamburger!!!

Sept 27 - Dr. Fell
we went out to see Dr. Fell... we stopped and had lunch. Helen still can't drink anything carbonated but drank pineapple juice and had some lunch!
Dr. Fell gave her a requisition for an ultrasound of the abdomen, and a prescription for her bronchitis.
We shopped at Walmart, Dollarama and had dinner... she had soup and juice!

Sept. 26th.
Helen had an apt with Dr. Chris Sedergreen. He kicked Helen out of is office and said he couldn’t treat her because she is refusing to take the Celexa! He accused her of seeing other doctors behind his back, because she had a follow-up blood work done from our family doctor on the same day as the blood work he requested, and Helen told the lab to send him a copy thinking he was interested in her health condition. He was rude and has been ridiculous from the very being of her starting to see him for help. He is suggesting that her illness is pyshological and doesn’t acknowledge the physical problem. When she went to the ER, he faxed over her medical papers which stated his diagnosis of it all being emotional, so that is why they didn’t investigate further at the hospital that day. He told Helen that she has to comply with his terms or he can’t treat her!. She left extremely upset and confused.
All she wants is to get a diagnosis as to what is going on with her stomach. Yesterday she also went in to get help for a lung infection. He was uninterested in treating anything! She has been seeing him for almost 2 months every week, every week he talks of her having a personality disorder and he wants his daughter to be a “big sister” for her? And he is making arrangements for her to get funding through some Laurel Society for her to go to Emily Carr? When she comes out of his office she is confused, and I ask her what did he say and what is he doing for her stomach, and she said nothing! When she went to the ER, the next day we saw Dr. Sedergreen and he was mad that we went there! He said he has gravol in his office! He has no intravenous apparatus whatsoever! This guy is whacked! Absolutely dangerous and whacked. I will be reporting him to the College of Physicians and Surgeons.
Spoke with Qureshi again and he was pleased that I made an apt to see Dr. Fell (our original family physician)… we need to get a requisition for an ultrasound of the abdomen.
We went to the chiropractor and he did some adjustments to help her stomach and nausea. It worked quite well... she was able to eat dinner at Jord's and Chantal's!
Sept 25th. - barium X-ray day
Had the x-ray done, it took just over 4 hours. She was quite ill afterwards, and for the rest of the day. I took her home in the early afternoon, she was exhausted and feeling horribly nauseous, couldn’t even keep down soup or water again!, motion and movement bothered her.
Talked with Ehsan Qureshi (doctor of internal medicine) about our frustration with Helen’s condition. He said the next step is to get the results from the barium x-ray that was done today. And to get an ultrasound of the abdomen.

Sept 24th.
I get a call from the hospital that they have a space for Helen tomorrow morning for the barium x-ray!! whoo hoo!!!
Sept 20th - day after ER
we went to see Dr. Chris Sedergreen and he said he had been talking to a specialist about Helen's case and that the specialist agreed that she should be seen right away.
He also said he is disappointed and upset that she hasn’t started the Celexa (anti-depressant drug)! He admitted it was a poison and that it would cause nausea and vomiting. I told him we had discussed the idea, and felt it better that she wait until we get a diagnosis before we start taking something so damaging. We left the office with two requisitions, one for further blood work, and one for an X-ray with the barium solution. I had to remind him to give us the requisitons! I stopped at Eagle Ridge hospital to book the X-ray apt. and the soonest is Oct 25th! more than a month away! She won’t be able to see a specialist until the X-ray is done!
Is this the way our medical system treats people now! I don’t understand why my daughter can’t get any diagnostic help?!?

Wednesday Sept 19th
I spent 5 hours in the ER with her, she had intravenous (IV) fluid replacement with gravol. It helped somewhat, she is able to sip water but is afraid to eat anything.
For the last 2 years!...
For the last 2 years my daughter (18 yrs old) has had terrible nausea and stomach aches/cramps... It all started around the time she started taking birth control pills, and the nausea was worse when she was menstruating. The doctors changed the birth control pill types and dosages, but it never helped. She now on the Ortho Evra contraceptive skin patch and still suffers from severe dysmenorrheal along with the severe nausea and vomiting.
She has had a lot of blood analysis done, but nothing shows up as abnormal. She had an ultrasound done with nothing showing abnormal.
She has been prescribed Apo-Metoclop, Pantoloc and various other pharmaceuticals for stomach problems, but nothing has worked for her… She now has lost almost 80 lbs and has a very poor quality of life due to weakness and extreme vomiting constantly. She is unable to go to school on a regular basis.
